Preparing for Your First Waxing Visit
08
Jan

You have nothing to fear or be nervous about when you come to Total Body Wax for the first time. Any discomfort associated with waxing is usually caused by tension and anxiety. The more relaxed you are, the less discomfort you will experience. Our experienced waxologists will take good care of you. If you have any questions prior to waxing, be sure to ask your waxologist. Remember, she is here to make sure you have a pleasant experience and leave with silky smooth skin.

Concerned about pain or discomfort? Professional waxologists know how to keep that first wax pain to a minimum. Still concerned? You may wish to take one or two acetaminophen a half hour before your appointment. Especially if you have a low tolerance for pain. Although waxing really isn’t painful, their maybe some discomfort. The more relaxed you are the better. On your next visit you will feel much more at ease and may experience no discomfort at all.

You should thoroughly exfoliate the area to be waxed a day or two prior to your visit. Moisturizing the area will help to ensure there are no ingrown hairs after waxing. Make sure your hair is about a 1/4 inch in length. Shorter and it is difficult for the wax to grip the hair sufficiently to ensure it is pulled out by the root. Longer and the skin may pull more and cause unintended pain. If this is your first time, we recommend you refrain from shaving for at least two weeks prior to your visit. If your waxologist finds your hair to be excessively long she will recommend you allow her to trim it before she starts the waxing. After your first waxing, you should plan on your next visit in 3 to 5 weeks.

While your first waxing removes the majority of the hair, subsequent visits will remove the hairs that were still growing but were under the surface of the skin and have now grown out. After 3 or 4 waxings, all of your hairs should be growing in the same cycle, provided you refrain from shaving. This new hair will be much sparser and thinner than the original hair. Regular waxing will help to keep it that way. Don’t allow so much time to pass that you return to shaving. Give waxing an honest opportunity to help you have smooth skin.
