Why You Might Want to be Waxed

Waxing is one of the easier and more reliable methods of temporarily removing body hair.  Waxing gets rid of the unwanted for three to five weeks.  There are strip wax and non-strip wax products available for hair removal.  Strip waxes get their name from the use of a special strip of paper or cloth used in the wax removal process.  Both types of wax are warmed until they melt.  Both melt just above skin temperature.  Strip waxes are applied with a spatula in a relatively thin coat and then the removal strip is pressed into a smoothed over the wax.  It is then immediately removed in a motion parallel to the skin surface to remove the wax and the embedded hair.

Hard wax is, also, warmed and applied with a spatula to the desired area but in a slightly thicker coat.  It is then allowed to cool slightly but it remains flexible.  After a few seconds of cooling, a corner of the wax is lifted to give the waxologist a place to grasp the wax.  It is then removed quickly in a motion parallel to the skin surface, removing both wax and embedded hair.

Waxing has many benefits over other temporary hair removal methods.  Both types of waxing are beneficial for the skin.  Waxing lasts much longer than shaving.  It is cheaper than laser hair removal or electrolysis.  It is a quick method of hair removal, especially when performed by an experienced waxologist.

Skin texture - After waxing the skin is left smooth and silky because dry and dead skin cells have been removed in the process.

No irritations or allergies - Most individuals do not experience more than a slight irritation of the skin after waxing and this will generally disappear within 24 hours.  The application of a good skin moisturizing lotion will help to resolve the problem.  Be sure to mention any irritation or redness concerns to our waxologist.  As an esthetician, she can give you the best information on how to care for your skin.  Allergic reactions are rare, as the products used are hypoallergenic.

No cuts or bruises - Unlike shaving, where cuts are all too common, bringing the added risk of infection, Waxing does not present this problem.  Bruising should not occur if your waxologist is experienced and follows proper procedures.  Most important is removing the wax in a motion parallel to the skin.  Be sure to advise your waxologist if you are diabetic or are using any anti-coagulant.  Both require additional care by your waxologist to ensure you do not experience bruising.

Stubble-free skin - As waxing is removing the hair root at the follicle, there is no growth of stubble.  New hair growth is required.  This new hair comes in much thinner than the original hair and is much finer, requiring some weeks to grow.  Thus leaving your skin soft and free of hair for weeks.

Slow hair growth - One of the greatest benefits of waxing is this slow hair growth.  It usually takes three to five weeks for the hair to grow back sufficiently for you to require a visit to your waxologist.  Over time you will notice the hair is coming back in more sparsely and they remain soft and thin, not the thick, coarse hair you may have had before waxing.

Here at Total Body Wax, our waxologist are trained in the proper use of our wax products.  They know when and where to use strip wax and non-strip wax.  Each wax product has been designed to aid in hair removal by opening the pores containing the follicle for easy removal.

We look forward to seeing you and do not be shy about asking your waxologist any questions.  She is your best friend when it comes to skincare.  All of our waxologists are licensed estheticians.
